Review by Adam Bristow
Filch and Blunder are two petty thieves but when they pinch an old lady’s handbag it results in a series of situations that are both slapstick and touchingly human as they cross paths with sultry local lasses, frisky bingo players and a troupe of wanna-be Salsa dancers. This company aims to re-establish the popularity of mask-based performance and if yesterday’s show was anything to go by they’ll do just that. There’s something mesmerizing about mask-based performance, which - especially when it’s done this well – takes us somewhere special that “regular” theatre doesn’t. There’s no dialogue in the play so storyline and emotion are wonderfully expressed through acting that’s physical and yet subtle enough to convey the nuances of different character’s personalities. Miss it at your peril.
